Cara Partners, located in Little Island, is part of the Schwabe Group, a family-owned company headquartered in Karlsruhe, Germany.

The Schwabe Group (Dr. Willmar Schwabe GmbH & Co. KG) is a 160-year-old German pharmaceutical company and a global leader in herbal medicines (phytomedicines), homeopathy, and health products. Based in Karlsruhe, the Group specialises in the research, development, and manufacture of high-quality, plant-based medicines supporting the respiratory, nervous, and gastrointestinal systems.

Cara Partners has been manufacturing in Cork since 1980. The site produces high-quality Ginkgo biloba extracts, an active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) widely used in medicines to support the treatment of blood circulatory disorders.

Today, Cara Partners employs more than 100 people in Cork across a wide range of disciplines, including engineering, science, quality, and operations. In 2024, a significant expansion of the Cork facility was announced, further strengthening the site’s capabilities and enabling the production of additional botanical extracts.
